A touch of Christmas
The end of the year is coming, and it’s time for us to take stock of what has happened in all our lives for the past year, and make plans for the coming year.
The time of the year for the season of giving is also coming. In the aftermath of Mr Tan Jee Suan’s suicide, it’s perhaps time for all of us to think about how we can give a little something this Christmas to bring a smile and a ray of hope to those that are less fortunate than us. Even in a developed country like Singapore, there are people who are so poor that even a plate of chicken rice is a luxury.
I’m not rich, but I’ll going to spend some of the money I earned last vacation to give some less fortunate kids something to smile about. I received an email a couple of weeks back from a friend about this project called A Touch of Christmas.
f you too wish to make child that’s less fortunate than you smile this Christmas, go grab a shoebox today and fill it up with presents. It need not be expensive things. Simple things like notepads, stationery sets and story books are things that would make a difference.
If you’ve not decided on what to do something for Christmas yet, start thinking about it. Notepads and stationery sets are worth “peanuts” to some people in Singapore. (I just can’t resist using the term “peasants” :p)
