Comments, opinions and an occasional ramble
Why do I watch animation?
I was asked this question in an interview by a NM2220 student earlier this week. In fact, I never really thought about it until she asked me. It didn’t take long for me to realise why.
After a mental run-through of all the animation that I have watched, I saw a common pattern emerging. Most of them deal with themes that resonate very strongly with me. Examples of themes I strongly identify with include justice, friendships and fighting for loved ones. Almost all the animation I watch has a certain combination of the three themes.
I guess watching the animation renews my energy for doing what I do. It’s tough being a journalist, chasing stories for the sake of fulfilling your duty to the public. You need a source to renew your beliefs once in a while. I guess animation does it for me. And, it’s a welcome distraction too.

And considering how you don’t even mention one or two examples of animes that you watch, I can’t help but wonder if there’s still a stigma born by anime-lovers. ;\

Have some patience! I will naturally talk about the animes that I have watched. It’s just that other things have been occupying my mind lately that I’ve not really been watching animation. I’m picking it back up though. The latest one I’m watching is Le Chevaliar D’ Eon.

I like what you wrote about anime, that’s why I like the stuff so much. Renewal, in a way anime lives out the forgotten morals or this world, like never giving up, fighting for something other than polotics. Anime rocks. Peace to you and great blog.

Yes, anime rocks indeed. There are so many different themes, and anime script writers often don’t shy away from writing about anything. I guess that’s the best part. It’s really much need, if you like, chicken soup for the soul.
Thanks for your compliment! I hope you enjoy the blog. I’ll try and write more about the anime I’ve watched in due time. I must have watchd like 20-30 different series already. Just need the time to get them all down here.

My current fave is Inuyasha, I’ve almost seen them all. All Trigun, all Blue Gender (I wan’t fond of it but it’s anime so it was hard not to watch and ended up being okay), I’ve watched the later Sailer Moons, and so many more. The amazing thing is I have a life. LOL
What’s your all time or current favorite?
Peace.

I recommend you a few. Trinity Blood, Z-Hime/Mai Otome and Bleach. If you don’t mind the more kiddy types, you can try Beet the Vandel Buster and Onmyou Taisenki.
I just bought a Z-Hime gashapon toy. Feel very tempted to go get a few more

Nice. I’ve recently seen some trinity blood, trying to catch more of it. I can’t wait to see what happens next each time it ends. Bleach is awesome. I’m very fond of that one.

I simply love the concept of another species that feeds on the vampires. It always used to be the case that vampires feed on human beings and it stops there. I can’t wait for the second season to be subbed.

My sis has been into vamps since she was little and I must admit seeing them have something after them is a refreshing idea. It makes the whole concept of vampires a little more modern and a little less one sided. Traditional vamp books and cartoons always display them as fancy superior and hansome creatures. Where as trinity blood reverses it, the vamps look rabid and someone else is decently hansome and fancy.
I babble sometimes.
