E-filing at ROM website
June 20th 2007 by Husband in OthersI just e-filed for our marriage at the ROM website. It wasn’t very difficult, as long as you have the following ready:
1. Bride and Groom’s statutory names and NRIC
2. Names and NRIC/Passport Number of the 2 witnesses
3. Solemniser’s License Number (if you are doing it out of ROM)
4. Credit/Debit Card
Yup, you need a credit/debit card. ROM apparently doesn’t offer other modes of payment for the registration fee, which is $26. After you e-file for marriage, you will be allocated a date to go down to ROM to do a verification and statutory declaration, as well as collect the necessary documents for the day. Both bride-to-be and groom-to-be must be present, so if both are working, there’s no choice but to take leave.
The requirements for verification and statutory declaration are:
a) Groom & Bride to be present
b) Copy of the Filing Instructions
c) Both original NRICs (Identity Cards)
d) A copy of the witnesses’ NRIC (Identity Card) for citizen / Passport for non-citizen
e) Solemniser’s Consent Form (need not be original)
f) Annulment/Divorce Certificate (Decree Nisi Absolute) or death certificate of deceased spouse, if applicable (if documents are in foreign language, it must be translated to the English language)
I suppose it should go without a hitch, except that we’ll have to go take leave for the morning on the day that we are supposed to go to ROM. Hope our bosses will be nice and say yes.
