Corsages for Seowhui’s wedding…

Showcasing….the corsages I made for Seowhui’s wedding! Well, not totally made by me. I essentially bought the flowers, and then tried to put them together with green straw-like material to make a natural-look corsage. These were made for the jiemeis in a short short duration of time, as I was given pretty late notice for this little project :p Promptly took it up because a) it’s for Seowhui :), b) I love doing this kind of things and c) put my creativity to the test in a challenging situation! Sounds like fun! Glad it turned out beautifully and Seowhui loved them too… Nothing like appreciation that truly makes one happy!

Japanese Street at JP!

Roamed around JP recently, and after hearing that the basement has been renovated, I decided to go take a look. And boy was I surprised at what welcomed me at the foot of the escalator! A whole new section - totally japanese! It even had a pretty grand entrance with a huge snow crab sitting at the top. Quite a couple of new Japanese eating places, but I’d say the main draw, at least for me, was the whole outlook of the place. It totally felt like I had stepped into a different place - as though I was standing in some food street in Japan! Haha.. Refreshing change for JP See for yourself!

Ever since I knew Seowhui was getting married, I’ve been thinking about planning a surprise for her at her wedding. Alas, due to restrictions of time, resources and creativity (as much as I hate to admit it, I wasn’t able to think up of something that was feasibly creative and surprising), I didn’t manage to pull off anything for her at all

So all I could do was to come up with something that would allow for her to remember this special occasion of hers - that is to build a small album of her process of planning as well as of her actual wedding day. Overestimated my own abilities though, haha, and the surprise that was supposed to be enjoyed by her on her wedding night/ next night in the special atmosphere of her suite, could not be delivered on time. I was simply too busy (and tired out, haha) on that day itself to be able to print any photos on that day itself! As some things may happen, this turned out to be somewhat a blessing in disguise, as with a little more time to deal with the photos, I could carefully select the pics and edit them to look special.

I really am happy with the product - it’s my masterpiece! Made with love….

Seow Hui and Ben’s Wedding!

Ok, after giving a few sample pics of what I created using Photoshop in my previous post, now is the time for some expression of my emotions, and a little narration of Seowhui’s big day. :) I really can’t describe in words how happy I am for Seowhui and Ben. I’ve known SH ever since we were kids, and I can vividly remember the times when we played Barbie dolls etc together. She is, and will always be, my closest cousin - and is someone I can almost call a sister. Too bad though, for growing up means taking on more responsibilities in your life, as well as having many more activities to bog you down than when you were a kid. Time apart leading our individual lives has also distanced our relationship to some extent. Now, she is going to start on a new chapter of her life, one that will be intrinsically linked to Ben. I sincerely wish her and Ben all the best, may they have an eternity of love, trust, forgiveness and bliss together. I love ya Seowhui!

I’ve essentially put together the story on Facebook, as I figured that’s the means through which most of Seowhui’s friends can enjoy the photos.. Nonetheless, a little trip down memory lane here, where one week ago, Ben and SH got married.. It all started at SH’s place.. where a tasteful sabotage (kudos to Sharon for linking the ‘pranks’ I suggested together) was put forth to challenge the groom and his entourage… Heh..

Following that, we arrived at HortPark for a short photo shoot. Since the couple did not take any pre-wedding photos, it definitely was a good idea to take some lovely pictures as keepsakes of their special day. Not to mention that the photographer they hired is really good (or at least I love his works from his portfolio so far, hee), so I’m really looking forward to the “pro”’s photos too! It was a lovely day with good weather - great for photography! It was a little too sunny at times though, and we sought shelter under the shade of the trees or under the shadows of our palms/ fans :)

The next destination was the groom’s place, where SH and Ben got a breather (and some air-conditioning ), while the xiong dis and jiemeis got a drink. Man were we thirsty! Haha.. The tea ceremony soon started.. and a lesson I learnt from watching is that a couple of pillows or cushions should be on standby for the couple, who will be on their knees throughout the tea ceremony! Ben’s hospitable mom served us delicious ‘bao’ and ‘dim sum’ (I still remember her coming into the room with a whole plate of ‘dim sum’ and when she left the room, there was barely half a plate left! haha.. It was really yummy!), while we waited for SH to change into another gown. Then it was off to SH’s place again for the tea ceremony of the bride’s side - i.e. my family and relatives!

The last part of the day was at Raffles Hotel, where the couple had their church solemnisation at The Lawn, and their banquet dinner at Raffles Hotel ballroom. It sure was a tiring day. I almost crashed immediately after I reached home. Haha.. But I believe it must have a great day for SH and Ben… Bai tou dao long, yong yu ai he!

Photoshop is sooo cool!

I’ve just picked up a few simple and basic Photoshop techniques and man, Photoshop’s amazing! Why didn’t I learn it earlier? Hubby taught me a few moves that were sufficient for me to create effects like a professional (almost ;p)! This is simply so cool! I could have spent hours on end just creating effects for some photos I have on hand from SH’s wedding! Just because I enjoy doing it :)

Some people have been saying that I should put up a wish list so that people who are intending to get us housewarming presents can do so easily.. haha.. so here’s a list of things that we want/ need for the house that we haven’t gotten down to getting!

1) Microwave oven
2) Toaster oven
3) Waffle maker
4) Electronic toothbrush
5) Vacuum cleaner
6) Steam iron (my labbie friends have voiced that they will be getting this for us)
7) Small sewing machine (more of Peiying’s wants than anyone’s needs..haha - anyone got one that they no longer want and can pass on? Hee..)
8 ) Sofa bed (for potential guests)

At the moment, just these.. Anyone interested in sponsoring anything? wahahaha

Happy Valentine’s Day to all!

Today’s Valentine’s celebrations were just great! Thanks bee dee for taking the time and effort in putting together such a wonderful evening.. It was simply fantastic… Your surprise for me back home was just so thoughtful I felt so very very touched.. Love you dear! Happy 1st Vday after marriage!

It’s been a great CNY this year, with lots of meeting up with family and friends, and welcoming them all to our new home. Thanks dearest fellows for coming over on chu si to heat things up at my place! Hee..

CNY gathering…

We spent quite a lot of time (and fun!) decorating our home to make it more CNYish, and after all that jazz, we finally had people over! Our first “official” bunch of house-warmers were Arts Club friends of hubby’s… We cooked lunch and hosted them for mahjong and CNY goodies! Hee.. Hope they enjoyed themselves! I know hubby was very happy to see them all!
