Mandai Orchid Garden - a place of serenity and beauty

June 4th 2007 by Wife in Venues

Before the recce for solemnization venues, I was this “suaku” (literally “mountain turtle”, i.e. ignorant) person who thought the only Orchid Garden in Singapore was in the Botanic Garden. How wrong was I! Not only does the Mandai Orchid Garden house beautiful orchids that just bloom out in bursting color from the green slopes in it, the whole feel of the place was so much better than the one in Botanic Garden! Despite it being in such an isolated region of Singapore (It’s at Mandai, where no public transport, except like 2 buses, leads to the garden), I really loved the place as it was so full of nature and filled with such lovely flowers! Imagine butterflies and dragonflies swooping high and low around you (ok, I must admit this occurs only at certain parts of the garden), with lush greenery surrounding you and blocking off the heat of the day. It was just oh-so-beautiful!

Good thing about it being in such a deserted area is that it is far away from the noise and bustle of everyday life, which I believe we are all so sick and tired of. So why not celebrate and share our happy occasion in this serene and beautiful place?

Here are some photos of the garden, with a main theme on the wedding solemnization (so don’t expect too many photos of flowers! Hee..):

A quaint gazebo with white sash as decor…Quite pretty, but kinda small..This will be our wet weather alternative venue..

A view of the orchids on the hillside can be seen directly from the gazebo..

…and chairs for the guests
aranahall.jpg
The Arana Hall, a beautiful and air-conditioned room to get away from the heat of the day, but more for banquets really, or so I feel…

And THIS is our choice for our solemnization - the water garden…

Isn’t it soooo pretty?

And the water garden leads up to the Vanilla Pod - Mandai Orchid Garden’s restaurant. This is where we plan to hold our hi-tea reception after the ceremony!

And last but not least, here is the guest reception area (or I am intending to use it as that), which overlooks the water garden too… Ideal as not everyone can be seated down at the water garden level…

So that’s our choice for holding our solemnization, hope this doesn’t spoil the surprise of the place for my guests! Oh, and did I mention before that I luuurrrve this place?

    Hi Toon Joo,

You can check out the following link on the prices (we took the solemnisation package): http://www.mandai.com.sg/events_wedding.html

In general, we were very satisfied with what we got, except that the sound system they provided wasn’t too good. The food (buffet style) was great and they did a good job in quickly clearing away the dishes from the tables so that our guests could go get more food!

As for atmosphere, well, it was great. I mean, it’s a garden so it’s naturally very pretty. It’s a nice place to do some photo shooting, especially in the evening. We were lucky that it didn’t rain on that day. That is the one thing about an outdoor wedding that can spoil the best laid plans.

    Hello

Im informing those who asked that the new designs on the
peach cocktail invitations website found here
    http://www.peachcocktail.co.uk are on site.

There is a discount in May also
on all designs featured, and i must say the designs are very good indeed.

Debonair is a civil favourite with its colour change shirt idea!

    Thanks

    Becky
